100 Years of Sinology in Hamburg
In 1909, the first German chair for "East Asian languages and history" was established at the Hamburg Institute for Colonial Affairs. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of sinology in Hamburg, the Department for Chinese Language and Culture will host a variety of events in the AAI during the week from September 21 to 26, 2009, including:

Throughout the week, an exhibition on the history of sinology in Hamburg will be shown in the AAI. The Confucius Institute Hamburg, which will celebrate its 2nd anniversary on September 20th, will host several events parallel to those in the AAI.
