On 21 February 2024, SCORE’s PI Hannah-Lena Hagemann was interviewed by Dr Vinay Khetia for the Insight Interviews series conducted by the Shiʿa Research Institute in Toronto, Canada. The conversation revolved around Hannah’s monograph, The Khārijites in Early Islamic Historical Tradition (EUP, 2021), especially the meaning of ʿAlī in Khārijite and Shiʿi tradition and the notion of rebellion against the Umayyads in early Islamic historiography.
