From 1991-1995, Dr. Parvin Mahmoudveysi studied German at the University of Tehran. She moved to Germany in 2000 to continue her studies.
She studied Modern and Ancient Iranian Studies and Comparative Literature at the University of Göttingen from 2001 to 2006. At the University of Hamburg (Asien-AfrikaInstitut, Arbeitsbereich Iranistik), she worked as a research assistant on the project 'Documentation of Gorani, an endangered language of the Kermanshah Province (West Iran)' from 2007 to 2012. A PhD in 'The meter and literary language of Gūrānī Poetry' was awarded to her in 2016.
