Ömer Sazak is a PhD candidate in the Department of Islamic History at the Institute of Social Sciences, Istanbul University. He will be at Hamburg University to conduct research related to his doctoral dissertation. He received his bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Theology at Süleyman Demirel University in 2017 and his master's degree from the Department of Islamic History at Sakarya University in 2020. In his master's thesis titled "The Architectural Structures in Eastern Baghdad in the Formation Process of the Dâr al-Khilâfa (279-334/892-945)", he examined the status of Baghdad, which was reused as the caliphal center by the Abbasids after the Samarra period, within the context of urban history. Currently, he works as a research assistant at Bilecik Şeyh Edebali University.
