In the Department for Languages and Cultures of Southeast Asia, the diversity and richness of this big, aspirational region steeped in tradition are researched and taught. The research area includes the ASEAN countries with a focus on Thailand/Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia/Malaysia, and the Philippines. Teaching includes training in the languages of the region (Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese and others) as well as a wide range of courses on culture and society, history and literature. The bachelor's and international master’s degrees up to the doctorate qualify for a career in business, in institutions, and in academia.
