Hiob Ludolf Visiting Professorship

The Hiob Ludolf Visiting Professorship is finally to be occupied again for the Winter Semester 2019/2020 and we announce the position and call for applications.
The professorship deals with relevant contemporary issues of Northeast Africa with a focus on society, economics, politics, culture and law, whereby the work with the sources in languages of the region is a particular requirement.
The Seminar is a program for BA and MA students of the Asia Africa Institute of Universität Hamburg.
The course is structured as follows: 14 seminar sessions of 90 minutes each with preparation and follow-up and a final exam. The teaching language is either German or English.
The semester begins middle of October 2019. The seminar sessions are to be held weekly or biweekly or by special arrangement as a compact seminar over six weeks.
The all-in-all expense allowance amounts to 3,200 Euros, for non-European lecturers 3,500 Euros. A workplace with appropriate infrastructure is available at the HLCES.
The final deadline for the call is 1 May 2019.
