Studying Indonesian-Malay
Malay language includes both standard Indonesian and standard Malay. By taking language courses, you will be able to understand and express yourself in both standard variants. Filipino is offered, in combination with Indonesian-Malay, as a second language (see Studying Filipino).
Seminars for undergraduate and graduate students cover a wide range of topics, with an emphasis on cultural heritage, identity politics, nation-building, minorities and Islam.
By offering a solid linguistic and cultural training, the program aims to prepare students to understand contemporary developments and issues, as well as to work in or with the countries studied.
