Introduction into Northern Thai Language and Script
- 1 semester
- 6,0 credits
- only upon request
This course lasts one semester and will only be taught upon request. It gives an introduction into the Dhamma script of Northern Thailand (Lan Na) and the basics of Northern Thai phonology.
This course aims at two groups: firstly BA students with the track "Thai Studies" who want to compensate their second year of studying a second Southeast Asian language by studying a second Tai language instead; and secondly MA students who want to study the Northern Thai language and script as an optional module ("Wahlbereich").
Students should have studied at least two years of Thai to enroll in this course, because "Introduction into Northern Thai Language and Script" requires the knowledge of the Thai language and script (see "Thai language courses"); knowledge of Lao (see "A Second Tai language: Introduction into Lao (A + B)") is not required but helpful.
For legally binding study regulations, please always refer to the information given by the Studienbüro (Student Services Office).
