Thai Partner Universities
Currently, the Thai Studies section has relations to ten partner universities in Thailand. Students from our department might get special support when spending their semester abroad at one of these universities. Scientists from these universities will visit our department on different occasions, just as our staff will visit their universities. A link list of our department's partner universities in Thailand as well as in other Southeast Asian countries can be accessed here (German only!).
(Please note: All links in the list below are external links outside the University of Hamburg's jurisdiction!)

Hamburger Gesellschaft für Thaiistik
The Hamburger Gesellschaft für Thaiistik (HGT, Hamburg Society for Thai Studies) promotes the field of Thai language and culture, also known as Thai Studies, at the Asia-Africa Institute of the University of Hamburg. Through our diverse activities, we primarily focus on making the results of research in Thai Studies accessible to a broader public. We publish scholarly works on both traditional and contemporary Thailand in a series of publications. We also regularly organize lectures and symposia. To expand the Thai Studies collection at the institute's library, books are procured directly from Thailand and donated to the university. Additionally, we participate in organizing Thai cultural days at the Asia-Africa Institute. When donations and membership fees allow, we aim to support talented students in academic projects related to Thai Studies. Our association operates selflessly.
