"Dangerous Readings and Violence in Indonesian Texts"

The seminar explores expressions of violence in a modern Indonesian context. It reads some secondary texts that explain the context in which violence occurs and a number of literary texts in modern Indonesian to examine how these texts represent power structures and their consequences. In doing this, the seminar examines the dynamics between art, literature and society in the light of literary and cultural theories.
