The "Indonesian I (Bahasa Indonesia)" language course consists of course I A (in the winter semester) and I B (in the summer semester). The class meets three times a week for 2x45 minutes each, corresponding to 6 "hours" of lessons per week.
The aim of the course is to master the basic language usage through the active learning of the standard Indonesian language both verbally and in writing. The students learn and talk about everyday topics or aspects of the living environment they are familiar with, individually or through dialogues in small groups. They also will write short individual essays about these topics. Once a week there is a tutorial that serves to deepen the students' oral language skills as well as to expand their listening comprehension skills.
The students learn the language in the class not only through textbooks, but also through various games, short movies, YouTube, quizzes, etc. Short cultural excursions are also organized, such as a visit to the Indonesian General Consulate in Hamburg to get to know the Javanese instrumental ensemble "Gamelan" or “Angklung”.
