"Thai II" language course
Thai II
- 2 semesters (courses II-A and II-B)
- 6,0 credits per semester
- 4 SWS ("Semesterwochenstunden": hours of lessons per week)
The course "THAI II" consists of course II-A (in the winter semester) and II-B (in the summer semester). The prerequisite for taking part in this course is the successful completion of the course "THAI I" or a proof of appropriate language skills.
The course meets twice a week for 2x45 minutes each time. Additional tutorials are not available for this course. However, for students of "THAI II" we offer the course “Thai Grammar and Syntax” (A and B) and a Tandem Project with Thai students of German language at one of your partner universitities in Thailand
In this course, you will learn spelling in the Thai language and the correct use of punctuation marks. You will read complex words, loanwords, and learn about word origins. You will learn to express your own opinion in Thai both orally and in writing. The course will teach you how to write informal letters and Thai greetings. Your knowledge of different sentence types will be deepened. You will communicate in specific situations. Finally, reading comprehension of Thai stories will be practiced, and further topics on Thai culture will be introduced.
Learning Objective: You will construct and understand complex sentences both in writing and orally. You will read difficult words correctly. You will confidently and accurately express your opinions. You will write a short story on your own. You will understand more subtleties of Thai culture and traditions.
