"Thai Grammar and Syntax" course
Thai Grammar and Syntax
- 2 semesters (courses A and B)
- 4,0 credits per semester
- 2 SWS ("Semesterwochenstunden": hours of lessons per week)
In the course, which spans over two semesters, explanations of Thai grammar and syntax are combined with the analysis of easy to moderately difficult Thai texts. The focus of the course during the winter semester (A) is on the Thai noun (classifiers, use of prefixes, pronouns), as well as the use of the passive voice and prepositions. The focus of the course during the summer semester (B) is on the Thai verb as well as on prepositions and conjunctions.
This course is recommended for all students of Thai Studies starting from the third semester. It builds on the instruction of "Thai II" and provides a systematic introduction to Thai grammar and syntax. To reinforce students' ability to independently analyse and translate Thai texts with regard to grammar and syntax.
