"Thai Tandem Project"

Tandem Project

• 2 semesters (courses A and B)
• 4,0 credits per semester
• 2 SWS ("Semesterwochenstunden": hours of lessons per week)

This course meets online once a week for 2 x 45 minutes. The Tandem Project is offered during both the winter and summer semesters. Participation in this program requires the successful completion of the Thai language course II-B level or an equivalent level of language proficiency.

Each conversation session is divided into two parts: the first is conducted in Thai and the second in German. Tandem partners are Thai students from a partner university who are studying German. The instructor selects discussion topics covering current events, culture, society, and lifestyle, among others. New vocabulary will be introduced by the instructor in advance, and a writing assignment will follow each conversation session.

Learning Objectives: This program fosters mutual language learning between students. Additionally, it enhances language proficiency and deepens cultural understanding. Engaging in direct conversations helps to minimise intercultural misunderstandings that may arise during the learning process.
